Howdy howdy howdy everybody! Yessir, it's Tuesday evening so you know what time it is! Yes, thank gawd - it's time to leave all the bad news and politics behind and escape into our favorite tunes instead!
Well, I don't have any direct inspiration for the theme, though I did have a nasty day at work...
The theme tonight is songs about life, livin' and dyin'. They can be songs using any or all of the terms in the title of the song or album or the artist's name. They can be songs about life, livin', dyin' or any combo of it.
So what are your favorite songs about life, livin', and/or dyin'?
Come down below for a few of mine!
Also, one quick note: In an effort to try to cut the upload time, if you can remember, when you go to embed in the comments, you can change the size to a smaller one, like 350 width. Maybe this will help. If it doesn't, back to the drawing board. And no worries if you don't want to or don't remember - no big! :D

Ok, I'm not sure if there is a better song about how to live....
I loved that movie! not a song, but....
my favorite scene...
I don't know, it kinda sounds like I do!
I have to admit that I actually own the movie..........
that movie
is totally underrated.
Lucky me, I haven't seen it
Slow down, Dewey. Don't walk so hard.
I'll walk s hard as I please.
I thought that would be a funny movie. You cannot trust any critics with comedies. Anyone ever see Baseketball? One of the top 5 funniest movies in my life. I'm so looking forward to seeing that movie now that it's confirmed.
Just watched the clip
Hilarious.
I think I kinda want it
oh...
you're going to watch that movie. It works because John C Reilly plays it completely straight~
omg... lol... seen that movie a few times... :D

In My Life
This song is so so very beautiful. My two friends played and sang this at my first wedding. My wife's not fully appreciating this song could be a symbol of what was lonely in that relationship. But she's a great great woman. One of the best ever. She is the most efficient, productive, no-bullshit person you would ever meet. And that's even more true than you can imagine. Made me feel like a loser, another problem. She gave up untold hours of her life, flying to Guantanamo and representing that poor Algerian, Aziz, who went into Algerian prison a few months after his release. Yep, life, livin', and dyin. I never heard this version before. Surprising Judy Collins didn't come up. Maybe corny, but great.
Johnny feels it.
that is a beautiful song geomoo...
perfect for tonight... :D
Sorry, I just have to repeat that song
I may post all three. They're all great, and I see a lot more people have recorded it, including Dave Matthews.
Soon I'll be sobbing. Don't mind me.
Judy Collins is just a heartbreaker
Great choice, Geomoo.
That's Life by Sinatra
What a great classic song. It'll never be covered like that. Even though Sinatra hung around with thugs and disrespected his audience in later years, he could really sing. Could act a little, too.
I'll try to find a bluegrass or country. No song here. Don't want to fill up the airways too fast. I'll be forced out of here soon.
that song is the story of my life... :D

The Mountain
Steve Earle and the Del McCoury Band. I love that band.
your stock just went up!
always happy to find another Steve Earle fan.
Well, it may need readjusting downward
but I hope not. I tried to like Steve Earle, bought his cd's, liked the attitude and the words. But just didn't want to play those records. Then I accidentally discovered the unbelievably good, musical and accomplished Del McCoury Band, then found out they did a cd together. A perfect bluegrass cd, and all written by Steve Earle. I'm glad to find a Steve Earle record that I play a lot. Speaking of under-appreciated, that record should be a classic.
But I Might Die Tonight
a fantastic tune! :D

Tea for the Tillerman is a must have
One cannot exist without owning Tea for the Tillerman.
I own everything he recorded
as Cat Stevens including Saturn's Night. I listen to a lot of Cat Stevens to this very day.
And When I Die
Let's Live For Today
Why doesn't that song ever get old?
It's simple. It's sing song. It never gets old. I love that song.
And don't worry
Bout tomorrow, hey......
because
The Grass Roots were the quintessential band for their time and genre.
At the closing of my brother in law's funeral this came on.....

Meant To Live
Poligirl, I love that George Strait
Thanks for that.
glad you liked it geomoo! not a whole lot
of folks like country, but i love it... :D
There's country and there's country
A subtle line separates the deadeningly simple from the exquisite in country. When it is good, it's my favorite kind of music. Usually it's not so good, imho.
