Vote for Dems -- If You Support Republicans.

Obama Nominates Top Advisor To Tea Party Senator As U.S. Attorney

President Barack Obama tapped Sen. Mike Lee’s legal counsel to be the next U.S. attorney for Utah, a move that infuriated Democrats from the state and ended a lengthy political drama over who would claim the high-profile position.

The White House on Tuesday announced the nomination of David Barlow. He will need to win Senate confirmation before he can claim the spot as Utah’s top federal prosecutor, a job that has remained vacant since the end of 2009.

Utah dems aren't the only ones infuriated over this.

And if that doesn't convince you to vote for dems, this will:

Obama U.S. Attorney Nominee David Barlow Is Tea Party Senator's General Counsel

But what is known about Barlow is that he has no significant criminal law experience -- he was a corporate lawyer practicing pharmaceutical defense, toxic tort and product liability law before starting to work for Lee in January

I was going to write this as a blog, but then realized

that I'd be promoting myself to the front page, anyway. hee hee.

And since Poligirl is literally under the weather in NOLA, but is safe, and may have power back now, I thought I'd stand in for a minute for Poligirl's weekly segment: You're Doing It Wrong.

Yes, Obama, You're Doing It Wrong. Please read and follow the manual: APPOINT DEMOCRATS. It's not that hard to understand.

The joke's on us. Really it is.

I'm sure this story will be just as prominent as Clint Eastwood's appearance at the RNC Convention.

In a 5 p.m. Friday news release, Assistant U.S. Attorney Ann Birmingham Scheel, acting on behalf of the United States Department of Justice, announced her office "is closing its investigation into allegations of criminal conduct" by current and former members of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

Federal prosecutors have advised Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery of the decision.

Thank you. I completely missed that date.

I got the link from a twitter feed, clicked straight through to the site, and never even looked at the date.

I'm sorry.

And in worse news, he actually was confirmed and holds that position now.

Published September 27, 2011

The Senate confirmed David Barlow to be the U.S. Attorney for Utah late Friday, filling a spot that has been vacant since December 2009.

Barlow has served as the chief counsel for Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, since January and was championed by Lee and Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, both of whom serve on the Judiciary Committee.

But his appointment by President Barack Obama was not without controversy. Utah Democrats remain frustrated that Obama rejected the suggestions of Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, and instead went with a Republican in the high-profile appointment.

still, it reveals his tragic love affair with bipartisanship

sartoris's picture

Even though this is from 2011 it's a great reminder of how he constantly snubbed his own party to accomdate the opposition. How many times did he turn his back on his base to embrace the opposition? He embraced Bush holdovers too often. I thought it was an enormous mistake and snub to his base to keep Gates on as his Sec. of Defense. He embraced bipartisanship too often to the detriment of true progess.

I acknowledge that bipartisanship has its place, but

only in limited circumstances.

To be elected by democrats under the Democratic platform, in fact campaign on it, and then govern partially if not totally under the Republican platform, that's (insert your word), and I've got plenty words to insert.

Did you see the Time interview with him? Blood boiling, at least for me. I'll get the link if you didn't read it.

If he wanted to govern completely using bipartisanship, he should have run as an independent.
