The U.S. Department of Justice is ramping up its battle against online piracy. Yesterday another $2.4 million was dedicated to the ever-increasing threat, and Attorney General Eric Holder seized the opportunity to gloat about some recent anti-piracy successes.[...]
The money will make it possible for police departments to dedicate more personnel to fight intellectual property “theft”, and counter the claimed devastation of individual lives and legitimate businesses that comes with it.[...]
While it is no secret that the U.S. is helping foreign countries rewrite their copyright laws, it came as a surprise to us that judges are also being influenced by the Justice Department. Judges are supposed to be impartial and are generally quite aware of the law already.
However, Holder’s comments suggest that the U.S. was able to school judges on IP crime.
While this may have worked in some cases, there are signs that not all upholders of the law are siding with the U.S. stance. Talking about copyright related issues, New Zealand’s District Court Judge David Harvey criticized the U.S. push for harsher copyright laws.
“..we have met the enemy and he is [the] U.S,” Harvey said, a comment that made him later resign from the Kim Dotcom extradition battle.
Obama's performance certainly shook a lot of diehard supporters. It's been interesting reading even up to this morning some overly loyal supporters just can't bring themselves to admit that Obama did anything wrong during the debate.
According to "them," it's everybody else's fault saying Obama did poorly.
I can see the next debate discussion: Hey, Obama kicked Romney's ass, wasn't he wonderful. And then the same "pundits" who have been carrying Obama's water on MSNBC and got trashed for pointing out how badly he did last debate will then praise Obama and the loyalists will say how great those pundits are now.
The script can be written right now. Meanwhile, SS and Medicare will get cut soon but...
bathe in that river of denial. Don't I see that Obama actually won that debate? No...no, I don't. It doesn't matter who lied, we just talked about how fucking stupid uncommitted voters are, didn't we? They're going for the dickhead who looked good. That's just how it is.
Don't I see that Mitt wants to DESTROY Social Security and Obama wants to STRENGTHEN it? Nope! Don't see that either, what the fuck are they smoking? Is He proposing a new WPA? Then GTFO.
I saw one person say he did it to give Romney hope. This would draw more of the GOP fundraising to Romney and protect down-ballot Dems from an onslaught of money being directed away from Romney.
Somebody else said he threw it so he could have an epic comeback in the second debate.
is on a popularity and cult-like contest and not issues and policies.
If everyone who has spent all this time defending Obama had used that time to convince him to fight for a public option, not cut SS or Medicare, just to name a few things, then we'd all be in a lot better shape, but noooooooooo, it's more important to idolize a politician and make every excuse in the book for him and then some, and try to beat into us how awesome he is and we're the suck because we won't acknowledge that.
This race would have never been this close if Obama ever realized that his job is not as a mediator but a leader who, how do you say this, leads.
a pretty decent job as Chris Matthews, (Hammond being a tough act to follow and all) but I'm not feeling Cecily Strong as Maddow at all. Not that I ever thought Abby Eliot nailed it, but she was better than that.
But then again I can't really blame him, because if the Dems are going to let him get away with messaging and not fight back, well...
During George W. Bush's term, Luntz was on C-Span's Washington Journal on a Dec. 25 morning. Christmas and he's on? Really?
Naturally Dem callers, and Independents, were saying not so nice things about Bush. And Luntz in his whiny condescending smartass disgusting tone admonished each and every one of them: "It's Christmas, how can you be so nasty on Christmas, you should be nice on Christmas because it's Christmas."
Yeah, right, because Christmas is exactly the day to tell everyone how great Bush is, and if one pushes back, they are the ones who are at fault.

And the not so funny but disgusting:
Justice Department Educates Foreign Judges on Piracy Issues
yup
Who knew that Clint would be that prescient.

Have you seen the silly theories that he "threw it"?

This is just unbelievable.
I hadn't read what you posted here. It's like what do you say to that? What the hell's going on? Shaking my head on that.
It kind of reminds me of a parent always telling a child how great they are, that everything they do is perfect, they're never wrong.
That is INSANE.
That debate might be the one and only that some people watch. NOBODY throws the first debate.
It's all okay now, because Democrats went on the
Sunday shows (that I'm sure had the same amount of viewers as the debate did) and debunked Romney's lies. See, everything's fine now.
I find it demoralizing and disheartening that the focus
is on a popularity and cult-like contest and not issues and policies.

SNL also dinged MSNBC.
LMAO. Thanks for posting.
And by the way, every time I see your avatar, I laugh. I love it.

It is widely known that you're evil, Frank...
I can't stomach him. You're right, he is the evil.
But then again I can't really blame him, because if the Dems are going to let him get away with messaging and not fight back, well...

Yes, the evil.
