Al Gore’s Current TV to ‘evaluate’ buyout offers

Al Gore’s progressive talk station Current may soon be sold off, a report said Friday.[...]

The Post noted that Current still pulled in almost $100 million last year from advertising and pay-TV operators, but the largest chunk of that was under threat in April after Time Warner cautioned Current that it could be taken off its network due to low ratings. That hasn’t happened yet, but it presumably still could — giving reason for executives to talk seriously about cashing out before the company loses a significant portion of its value.

Of course the ratings decreased when they kicked Olbermann out. And when they hired two politicians for two shows, the ratings started to come back up, but not a lot.

It was embarrassing to see the ex-governor of Michigan on a cable channel like Current.

Have they started to broadcast in HD yet? I don't know because I haven't watched that channel since Keith left.

And Hyatt is a jackass.

Nancy Pelosi on TDS

geomoo's picture

I just heard Nancy Pelosi as a guest of Jon Stewart. First she says the electorate needs to give Obama a majority in the House so they can work with the president to get things done like back in the good old days of 2008. Later, she talks about tax cuts for the wealthy as though it were a problem to be solved, not mentioning that those tax cuts were enacted while Obama had the majority she says he needs to promote the progressive cause. Lying liars.

Lying liars, indeed.

Granted, I haven't listened to her for a long time, but she sounded stronger as a politician in the interview with some good messaging (if one didn't know better) vs. hearing her speak previously with not so strong rhetoric or messaging.

Castro was actually offered a Major League contract to play ball

sartoris's picture

He was a star college pitcher and he really was scouted by lots of teams. The Pittsburgh Pirates did send a scout to see him but in 1947 the New York Giants actually offered him 5 grand to sign with them and play professionally. Castro turned them down and a decade later was on his way to running a country. So who knows, maybe Che Guevara would have ended up in charge of Cuba and Castro could have ended up in the Hall of Fame.

Pulling out all the stops.

The president will appear on "Morning Joe" on Monday, October 29th, the network announced Friday. He will tape an interview with Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski in New Hampshire on the Saturday before the chat airs.

Big mistake if Obama wants to win.

Another big mistake is taping it two days before it airs.
