So I had a thought yesterday that provoked a pretty interesting discussion, the thought was essentially that this supposed "fiscal cliff" being espoused by the R's, D's and every talking head in the corporate owned media is a lie. A lie formulated by the very people that buy the politicians and use them like hand puppets to express whatever views that would benefit them the most and distract from the real issues. War, poverty, jobs, the fact that the Wall Street casino rolls along unchecked we get not a peep from these learned and very serious people.
I have long stated that the use of the term "entitlement" to demean and attempt to deride any of the less fortunate is a means to an end. Aren't we all entitled to basic services and care? Maybe I'm a freak but that is what I was taught to believe, that every human being/animal deserves the exact same amount of love, respect and care that we would demand for ourselves. The Golden Rule or whatever you want to call it, if one person suffers we all do and are lesser for not addressing the reasons why.
One last thought on this "fiscal cliff" meme.
The republicans won whether anyone believes it or not. Just like it was after '08 election and the midterms they control the narrative and when you control the narrative you have won the argument. Oh and never believe that after the democrats cave and agree to the demands of the hostage takers that it won't be used as a weapon to point out that the Democrats cut entitlements.
