Operation Israel Massacre versus U.S. Imperialism

The reaction to Israel's heinous assault on Gaza has been met with significant opposition and disgust from most on the left, including conservative mainstream establishment progressives. It appears that the time worn excuses the Zionist government of Israel has used to justify it's regular "Operations" to further their homeland agenda are wearing mighty thin among those that value life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Particularly when children are being killed, hospitals are being bombed, and the simple narrative of an oppressor versus an imprisoned oppressed became impossible to ignore.

But there's a noticable difference between the uproar from the left over the actions of the Israeli government in Gaza versus the left's reaction to the actions of the U.S. government in Libya, Syria, and Ukraine, i.e., U.S. Imperialism. There is no uproar from the left regarding the actions of the U.S. government in Syria, Libya and Ukraine. There is no uproar about U.S. imperialism from the left at all, it's more like a tiny whimper. The conservative mainstream progressive left, those that get their news facts, analysis and opinions from the mainstream corporate media and the Obama government, do not feel the U.S. has played other than a peripheral role in what is happening in those countries. The blame has all been on Moammar Gaddaffi, Bashar Assad and Vladimir Putin, like Saddam Hussein and many others before them. But even the left as a whole doesn't seem to have a good grip on why those three countries are in turmoil and war.

It's all about information, narrative, and the ability of the ruling class to maintain an illusion, and as usual for the mainstream establishment progressive left, it's also about Obama and the democratic party. The mainstream establishment progressive left has no choice but to see through the propaganda of what Israel is doing in Gaza, even with Obama approving it. The incessant appearances of Netanyahoo and the IDF in the corporate media are not enough this time. It's all too obvious. Fool me once, twice, fifty, whatever, you're not fooling me this time!

With Libya, Syria and Ukraine, the illusion is much harder to break. The Israel illusion is decades old, these are mere infants, although decades in the making as the agenda for U.S. imperialism has evolved. Combined with the propaganda majestry from our own government and the corporate/state one percent media, it's impossible for the average citizen to cut thru the fog of propaganda surrounding those countries if that is all they rely on as a knowledge base. The fog of propaganda regarding those three countries has been incredible, DEFCON 5 propaganda level type stuff. You simply cannot get the truth from the corporate state mainstream media. You can get kernels of truth, usually intersperced among the lies, misinformation and disinformation. But the narratives are what people remember, the headlines, the Madison Avenue generated emotional instigator. "PUTIN did it!", "ASSAD did it".

Selective outrage, that's when people come to conclusions based on emotion instead of logic and knowledge. We all do it, we're all human. Maybe there's a little of that going on, particularly among the mainstreamers. But then again, many have complained since the Iraq war started, where are all the antiwar people? Where is everybody? The United States of America, and it's little friend NATO, has built the largest, most expensive and most powerful war machine ever assembled on this planet, and the antiwar movement is sitting on the sidelines watching the parade go by. They're ruining countries, killing millions, making millions more live in poverty and homelessness, while making billions of dollars for themselves and their One Percent Solution.

So ya, I'm pissed and disgusted at what Israel is doing to the people in Gaza. It's fucking insane the world is allowing it to happen, more insane that the government of my own country, the United States of the land of the shackled, home of the scared shitless, is supporting the massacre. The people that committed genocide against the Indians and shoved those that survived onto reservations are approving, aiding and abetting the same actions in Palestine. It's sickening.

But no less so, in fact less so, than U.S./NATO imperialism which is estimated to have been responsible for the murder/deaths of tens of millions. Say that again, TENS OF MILLIONS. It is the primary enabler of the global militarism nightmare that has been created on the planet and possesses and will use as a first strike, thousands of nuclear weapons. It is the most dangerous entity on earth. Now with their end game approaching with Russia and China, this imperialist war machine needs to be stopped now.

That's the social in social media ....

... not everybody has to be in every platform. I couldn't find my way around some of the social media sites to save my life. I don't even know what the verb is to add something to tumblr ... to tumble?

My only quibble...

is that I wish we'd stop calling it 'mainstream'. The only thing that makes it 'mainstream' is the money, the polls are with the left. I've been politically active for 120+ years and my position has not changed, the Corporate Consensus has successfully bought out the politicians in what can only be called 'legalized' bribery and graft.

Yes, the 'mainstream corporate media' ...

... as Big Al says, or the "mess media" as I sometimes say would be more accurately described as moneystream media than mainstream media.
