Shining light on pseudo-science

An Arizona man who appears to be a parent of a transgender child has posted an essay at Tucson.com.

The debate surrounding the Pima County Board of Supervisors resolution to ban paid conversion therapy seems to have been taken by some as an opportunity to question the legitimacy of transgender and gender non-binary identities as a whole.

Last Saturday in Waxahachie, TX, Gwynevere River Song reportedly got into an argument with another adult in her home, which led to that other person shooting Song to death. We have no idea what the argument concerned, but we do know that Song was a transgender woman. The assailant was also injured during the shooting and he was transported to a hospital.

The research was published in the Springer Journal Sex Roles and further highlights the ways political ideology shapes viewer responses to transgender depictions in entertainment.
