Tahrir II: Neoliberal Harder

Remember September 11, 2012 and the embassy attacks?

I'm not talking about the aftermath and controversies over its handling.  I'm talking specifically about September 11, 2012, as events unfolded.

Do you remember what was happening in Egypt?  Do you remember the protests, and reports of people climbing the embassy walls, pulling down an American flag?

NSA Whistleblower Comes Out of the Shadows

Originally posted at The Stars Hollow Gazette

Despite the risks to his personal safety, the whistleblower who leaked the FISA court order and NSA surveillance programs to The Guardian has revealed himself. Prior to giving the tapes to columnist Glenn Greenwald, the 29 year old Edward Snowden chose to leave the US for Hong Kong because of it long history of respect for freedom of speech. Like six other whistleblowers, he expects that he will be charged by the Obama administration under the 1917 Espionage Act. In the 12 minute video that was produced and copyrighted* by American documentary film director and producer, Laura Poitras, he explains his decision to give the secret warrant and programs to Greenwald and leave the United States.

CIA: Organ of Democratic Society or Drug Trafficking Organized Criminals?

In my 30-year history in the Drug Enforcement Administration and related agencies, the major targets of my investigations almost invariably turned out to be working for the CIA.  - Dennis Dayle, Former DEA Officer

Wherever you declare a war on drugs you get more drugs, not less drugs.  That is an absolute certain rule.  - Peter Dale Scott

The same can be said for the "War on Terror".

Anti-Capitalist Meetup: John Brennan, Barack Obama and the Banality of Evil in Service of Late Capitalist Imperialism by Le Gauchiste

"Some years ago, reporting the trial of Eichmann in Jerusalem, I spoke of 'the Banality of evil' and meant with this ... the phenomenon of evil deeds, committed on a gigantic scale, which could not be traced to any particularity of wickedness, pathology or ideological conviction in the doer, whose only personal distinction was a perhaps extraordinary shallowness...., and the only specific characteristic one could detect on his part as well as in his behavior ... was not stupidity but a curious, quite authentic inability to think."

--Hannah Arendt

So, Petraeus, Broadwell, Libya, secret prisons . ..

Some of us were discussing this report and article from CNN.  Here's where we can conspiracize to our hearts' content.  Why not?  We'll likely never know the truth, with all these unrelliable sources and diverse motives.

"The Americans want the (rebellion) to continue but they are not allowing enough supplies in to make the Damascus regime fall."

Humanitarianism is Geopolitical Rohypnol: Mali, continued

In case you didn't know, there is serious shit going down in Mali. In case you did know, all the information that's delivered to your door about it serves the interests of the Western Empire, not the people of Mali. Time for the latest chapter on how Western humanitarianism is being used to rape the world.

Mali is the latest subject of Western imperial ogling, and all of Obama's international neoliberal fraternity brothers are taking their turn explaining why Mali is just asking for some forcible intervention.

Syria, Another Regime Change, Another War.

Trying to write something about what’s happening in Syria -

I like to boil things down to simple terms. I read a quote from Albert Einstein once and it confirmed that approach.

“Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler”

It’s a fucking regime change.

It can't get simpler, therefore it isn't.

It was obvious from the start. Actually it was obvious at least nine years ago when General Wesley Clark told us Syria was on the list for regime changes. Nothing has really changed from Bush to Obama in this regard.
