Montana bill would ask for referendum on whether transgender people exist

Rep. Carl Glimm (R-Kila) has introduced a bill written by the Montana Family Association which defines sex as "a person's immutable biological sex as objectively determined by anatomy and genetics existing at the time of birth." As such it would restrict transgender people to public restrooms and locker rooms designated for the sex assigned to them at birth.

Anaconda, Montana - Socialist Party Wins Victory in Copper Town

While the Socialist ticket in Butte was handed a defeat by the voters, in nearby Anaconda, the Socialist Party won its first municipal election victory west of the Mississippi. This month Anaconda voters chose the Socialist candidates to fill the offices of mayor, city treasurer, and city police judge. Socialist alderman will also fill three of the six seats. Socialist Party National Secretary, William Mailly, wired his congratulations, calling the results a "splendid victory."

Not so much equality

Somewhere along the line the concept of equality has become muddled. We can certainly see that in deliberations around North America in the past week.

In Boise, ID, Helena, MT, East Aurora, IL and Canada we have seen what happens when the public chooses to consider the equality of minority people...especially those of us in minorities that most people don't know much about, don't want to know much about and generally detest anyway.

The idea that giving us equal protection under the law will endanger other people because a third set of people might take advantage of our protections is just ludicrous. It's like saying that disabled people shouldn't have protections because able-bodied people might use their set-aside parking spaces.
