Tahrir II: Neoliberal Harder

Remember September 11, 2012 and the embassy attacks?

I'm not talking about the aftermath and controversies over its handling.  I'm talking specifically about September 11, 2012, as events unfolded.

Do you remember what was happening in Egypt?  Do you remember the protests, and reports of people climbing the embassy walls, pulling down an American flag?

Post-Election Progressive Scorecard Update: Kasich 9, Obama 1

In my last update, Kasich had a 3-0 lead:

http://my.firedoglake.com/ohiogringo/2012/12/13/post-election-progressiv...

Congratulations, Obama fans! He finally scored on the Barbarian's tally! He proposed legislation to ban military-style assault rifles, limit the size of magazines, and expand background checks to close the notorious gun show loophole. He might even be serious. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Well done, Mr President. Push hard, and some of this will actually be enacted, even by this Congress, into law.

Then, today, Republican Governor John Kasich of Ohio came out with his proposed budget. He scored with me by proposing the following:

1. A real small business income tax cut. Half of the first $750, 000 of business income, or $375,000 is exempt from the state income tax. As a Socialist, I'm not totally in favor of this, but it is progressive in its way. It clearly helps out local merchants and start ups, green grocers and farmer's markets and repair shops and bookstores and the like. And it definitely does not give away the store to large corporations.

Anti-Capitalist Meetup: John Brennan, Barack Obama and the Banality of Evil in Service of Late Capitalist Imperialism by Le Gauchiste

"Some years ago, reporting the trial of Eichmann in Jerusalem, I spoke of 'the Banality of evil' and meant with this ... the phenomenon of evil deeds, committed on a gigantic scale, which could not be traced to any particularity of wickedness, pathology or ideological conviction in the doer, whose only personal distinction was a perhaps extraordinary shallowness...., and the only specific characteristic one could detect on his part as well as in his behavior ... was not stupidity but a curious, quite authentic inability to think."

Post-Election Progressive Scorecard Update: Kasich 3, Obama 0

In a previous entry on Fire Dog Lake, I gave Republican Governor John Kasich of Ohio a 1-0 lead over Democratic President Barack Obama on issues since the 2012 election because the Kasich Administration opposed a proposal by Obama's Department of Agriculture to cut Food Stamp benefits for many recipients by up to 50%:

Pissed Off Pakistani Drone Victims

Many on the left leading up to the election were reporting their inability to vote for President Obama for moral reasons, one of them being the illegal and immoral drone wars being conducted by Obama in many countries on the planet.  Drones are the new cash cow for the Military Industrial Complex and proliferating at an insane pace.  Half the countries on earth have drones with at least 76 countries owner-operators of armed drones.  Drones are locusts.  They are the locusts.
