Montana bill would ask for referendum on whether transgender people exist

Rep. Carl Glimm (R-Kila) has introduced a bill written by the Montana Family Association which defines sex as "a person's immutable biological sex as objectively determined by anatomy and genetics existing at the time of birth." As such it would restrict transgender people to public restrooms and locker rooms designated for the sex assigned to them at birth.

Survey says!

The majority of Americans oppose laws that would force transgender people to use bathrooms based on the gender listed on their birth certificates according to new polling from the Public Religion Research Institute.

Fifty-three percent of respondents oppose such laws, 39% favor them, and nearly 10% have no opinion.

Republicans favor such laws, 59%-36%, Independents oppose them, 57%-39%, and Democrats oppose them 65%-30%.

Shell game

While a person pays very close attention to legislative shenanigans happening in one state, stuff is going down in another.

This morning, while I was still asleep in California, Republicans in New Hampshire were determined to maintain their exclusivity as the only state in New England to keep transgender people subject to discrimination.

Evil descended on Austin

That is something everyone can agree on. Just exactly what that evil was is what we disagree on.

This morning SB 6, which is HB 2 reincarnated nd beamed over from North Carolina, was passed by the Texas Senate Affairs Committee by a vote on 8-1. That followed testimony on Tuesday of over 250 people which lasted more than 13 hours. There were 253 witnesses who testified against SB6 and 29 who testified in favor of it.

Life can seem especially fragile

I'm not doing so well coming up with fresh titles lately. Three days in a row with the same damn topic can do that.

Make it stop

I'm pretty sure it was yesterday that I wrote about the murders of two transgender women...one in New Orleans on Saturday evening and one in Chicago last Tuesday.

Well, another day older and deeper in debt...
